Summit Hall in South Reno will be opening a new family practice clinic this Spring. Renown Health provides primary care services and a laboratory that holds the potential to offer more services in the future. Dr. McCormack, medical director of Renown Medical claims that the clinic was also produced to offer a more comfortable and inviting setting for patients seeking it’s services. He claims that the practice aims to make the environment resemble and have the atmosphere resembling their own personal living room.
Additional features have been discussed by Renown, but Dr. McCormack states that what they seek to add later on depends on the ever changing healthcare market. The uncertainty of the healthcare industry under Donald Trump’s administration creates a bit of mystery for the practice going forward.
With the staff currently only employing 11 people, it will look to add at least one more physician in to the mix and one more nurse practicioner. The facility covers over three store fronts and stretches out over 10,000 square feet. The architecture and design of the building was left to Eric Fong of MBA Architects. The general contractor for the building was a Carson City based business dubbed Shaheen Beauchamp Builders LLC. The structural engineering was handled by Forbes Engineering and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical engineering was handled by MSA Engineering Consultants. All companies with the exception of Shaheen are Reno Nevada based. It is reported that at least a dozen local contractors were called upon to produce the medical facility.
McCormack states that the growing community, improved economy and greater access to health insurance facilities necessitates the need for more clinics in the region, specifically the South Meadows area. Renown currently has 12 primary care clinics throughout Reno, Carson City, Fallon and Fernley. They have also as of recent opened a clinic in the Caughlin Ranch area.
