Sujit Choudhry Flies High as a Professor of Law

Sujit Choudhry works at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law as the Director for Constitutional Transitions. He is also the professor of law at this institution. On July 10th, Sujit Choudhry teamed up with constitutional experts in Kiev, Ukraine to discuss the country’s legal challenges and its semi-presidential system of government. The forum was hosted by the International IDEA, an intergovernmental organization that advocates for sustainable democracy, and Ukraine’s major think tank, the Center of Policy and Legal Reform. Sujit Choudhry felt privileged to meet some of the top constitutional experts and researchers in Kiev, Ukraine. For the past two decades, Ukraine’s democratization has been unstable due to weak political parties, the concentration of power in the presidency, and poor electoral systems. Sujit teamed up with Thomas Sidelius of Dalarna University and Sumit Bisarya of the International IDEA. Roundtable participants included the advisor to the President of Ukraine, a representative of Ukraine on UN Human Rights Council, and a representative of the Constitutional Commission of Ukraine. Mr. Choudhry is a professor of law at the University of California. Over time, he has become a globally recognized authority on issues related to comparative constitutional law. As an advisor to the constitutional building process, Sujit has in-depth experience in law.
